Tyson Foods Vice President and Chief DEI Officer to Present Guest Lecture Tonight

Carlos F. Orta, vice president and chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer at Tyson Foods, will be a guest lecturer on Wednesday, Dec. 1, at the Reynolds Center on the U of A campus. The lecture will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Topics of discussion will include embracing diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace, how to become a DEI leader and advice for future leaders. The event is open to the campus community and will be available virtually via Zoom.

MORE ABOUT CARLOS F. ORTA

In his role with Tyson Foods, Orta is responsible for developing and implementing the company’s enterprise-wide diversity, equity and inclusion strategy and furthering equality in the business as well as in the communities in which the company operates.

Prior to joining Tyson Foods, Orta was the head of strategic growth and program development at DiversityInc, a diversity publication in the U.S. He has worked at four global Fortune 500 companies in addition to Tyson Foods: Anheuser-Busch, Inc., Carnival Corporation, Ford Motor Company and Waste Management, Inc. Additionally, he was the former CEO of a small, multi-million dollar DE&I advocacy based nonprofit.

Orta is also a past chair of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on the board of directors of the Cuban American National Council and LIDERAMOS. He also serves on the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s business advisory council and the Smithsonian National Latino Board. Both Miami Dade College and Barry University have honored him with distinguished alumni awards. Most recently, PR Council/PRWeek and LinkedIn Top Voices recognized and honored his DEI leadership and expertise.
