University life is stressful, filled with finals and late-night study sessions. For many students, it can be tough to focus on grades and schoolwork in the last weeks of a semester.

Students living on campus are eligible for free short-term individual counseling through an innovative collaboration between University Housing and the Pat Walker Health Center.

This program is a partnership between Housing and the health center's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) area.

Workshops

In addition to individual counseling, students are eligible and encouraged to take part in CAPS free groups and workshops.

Workshop Topics

  • Relaxation Skills

  • Test Anxiety

  • Relationships and Managing Emotions

  •  Time Management

  • Anxiety and Depression

Contact CAPS

Think you could benefit from these services? Call CAPS at 479-575-5276 during business hours, Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Students experiencing an immediate crisis or who need to be seen that day should visit the CAPS office on the second floor of the Pat Walker Health Center during business hours. After business hours, a student can call 479-575-5276 for emergency support.

The CAPS main phone number is found on the back of every student, faculty and staff ID card.

CAPS offers outreach programming for departments across campus, including University Housing, for easier access and connection to wellness and mental health resources.

Outreach events are a terrific way for students to become familiar with CAPS and our services and help normalize mental health struggles that college students often face.
