CAPS Offers Free Workshops to Support Student Success

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) provides services in support of students' mental health, including supporting students in their academic success. CAPS provides several workshops and groups aimed at helping students overcome mental health issues that may negatively impact their studies.

These workshops and groups are available to all students, not just those who are CAPS clients, and are offered free of charge. They do not require a student to have an appointment with CAPS first; students can sign up online and attend the workshop. Some are being offered in-person at CAPS (located on the 2nd floor of the Pat Walker Health Center), while others are being offered virtually, in an effort to provide options that every student can be comfortable with. In-person sessions do require masking and social distancing. All groups and workshops are facilitated by a CAPS mental health clinician.

Examples of workshops/groups include:

  • Anxiety and Depression Reduction workshop
  • Surviving College 101 series (includes single sessions on time management, test anxiety, relationships and emotions)
  • Relaxation Skills
  • Express Yourself (utilizing creative arts to process feelings, thoughts, experiences)
  • Grief and Loss Support Group

More information and links to sign up for any of these groups/workshops are available on the CAPS groups website.
