Walker Receives Outstanding Teaching Award From American Society for Engineering Education

Heather Walker, assistant teaching professor and associate department head for undergraduate studies in the Ralph E. Martin Department of Chemical Engineering, has been selected as the 2021 recipient of the American Society for Engineering Education Midwest Section Outstanding Teaching Award. This award focuses on outstanding classroom performance, recognizes teachers of engineering and engineering technology students, and serves as an incentive to make further significant contributions to teaching.  

Kim LaScola Needy, dean of the College of Engineering, said, "Dr. Walker has an outstanding record of teaching, course innovation and student service. She is very deserving of this award, and the College of Engineering is fortunate to have her as a member of our teaching faculty."

Walker received her Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the U of A and has been a teaching assistant professor since 2014. She regularly teaches Thermo I to chemical, biological and biomedical engineering students and is widely recognized for her teaching effectiveness and interactions with students.
