Seats Available for Race in the South Training

Beginning Tuesday, the University Libraries will offer a two-part training session on Race in the South. All members of the campus community are encouraged to attend, and registration is required. As of Friday, Feb. 18, there are 21 seats available. 

Race in the South Part 1: Interactive Learning
10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, Feb. 22

This two-hour interactive learning opportunity fosters awareness, understanding and clarity about the history, structure and impact of racism in both the South and in Arkansas, specifically. Not a webinar, this session engages participants to share in reporting a snapshot of history and in identifying the impact this history may still have on systems today. This session is intended to guide further reflection, conversation and action to recognize and work to dismantle institutional barriers.

Race in the South Part 2: Dialogue 
10-11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 24

This one-hour facilitated dialogue will invite participants to engage in pair and large group conversations designed to encourage deeper reflection and narrative sharing related to the history explored in Part 1.
