Peace Corps Application Workshop

Peace Corps Application Workshop
University of Arkansas

The Peace Corps is a national service opportunity sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. Through this program, motivated changemakers immerse themselves in a community abroad for two years, working side by side with local leaders to tackle the most pressing challenges of our generation. It is a government organization that was founded in 1961 under President John F. Kennedy and offers positions in six different sectors: education, youth in development, agriculture, environment, health and community economic development.

The first week of March is international Peace Corps Week commemorating Kennedy's establishment of the Peace Corps on March 1, 1961. Learn about the application process for Peace Corps from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, via Zoom. To register, follow this link.

Make your application stand out from the rest. Attend this workshop to learn how to browse volunteer openings, find the right program and strengthen your application. You will have an opportunity to ask questions about service, learn steps you can take to improve your chances and gain valuable tips to guide you through the application process.

The Peace Corps regional recruiter, Corbin Johns, will be delivering the workshop for interested students. He has served as a youth in development volunteer in the Kingdom of Eswatini from 2016 to 2018 and was responsible for building the capacity of primary and secondary school students in HIV/AIDS education and English proficiency. The U of A's Peace Corps Prep Certificate program coordinator, Alshaatha Alsharji, will also be present to provide useful information about the program.
