Celebrate Bangladesh Independence Day March 27

Bangladesh Student Organization invites students to attend the Independence Day of Bangladesh from 5-8 p.m., Sunday, March 27, at the Reynolds Center Auditorium, RCED 140. The Independence Day of Bangladesh, taking place on March 26, is a national holiday. It commemorates the country's declaration of independence from Pakistan in the early hours of March 26, 1971.

This event is free for students, but tickets are required. Students can get their free tickets in front of the food court of Arkansas Union from noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, March 10, and 1-2 p.m., Tuesday, March 15.

The Independence Day celebration includes a presentation about Bangladesh and its culture. There will be folk songs, poems and traditional dances performed by students to express the cultural pride and heritage of Bangladesh. Students will be served traditional Bangladeshi foods after the event.

This event is supported by the Student Activities Fee as a funded event by the Associated Student Government and is free to all currently enrolled University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, students who pay the student activities fee.
