The 2022 SoulCon BIPOC Media Conference, held this month in Fayetteville, will feature Brittany Willis, an alumna of the Sam M. Walton College of Business.

Willis, who earned an M.B.A. from Walton College in 2016, will be the featured speaker for the Pitch Bootcamp workshop at the conference along with Synetra Hughes, Ed.D., the managing director for the Dr. Barbara A. Lofton Office of Diversity & Inclusion at Walton College. Willis and Hughes will outline how to effectively craft your pitch and sell your business, services or products.

Willis owns and operates a PJ's Coffee franchise store in Dallas and is an e-commerce sales lead for PepsiCo. She also serves as a small business consultant and business coach.

The BIPOC (black, Indigenous and people of color) media conference was created to support people of color within the media industry. Workshops focus on journalism, film/video and promotion. Journalists, writers, filmmakers, publicists, advertisers, creatives, media students, marketers and digital media professionals are invited to attend.

The in-person conference will take place April 6-8 at the Mount Sequoyah Center. A limited number of people are invited to attend face-to-face sessions, but others may access online content highlighting workshops and speakers on Saturday, April 9.

Register now. A $50 registration fee is required for the online content; $150 fee is required for in-person tickets, which includes access to workshops, meals, speeches, networking events and a film screening of The Neutral Ground by CJ Hunt.

The conference is hosted by Arkansas Soul Media in partnership with the Micheaux Award and Film Labs. Participants will hear from reporters, documentary filmmakers, producers, screenwriters and agency owners.
