The Office of Title IX has partnered with the University Libraries to offer resources to campus related to Sexual Assault Awareness Month, which is observed nationally in April. A physical display of materials is available on the lobby level of Mullins Library, and libraries personnel have also created a Title IX Research Guide that highlights both physical and virtual materials.

"This year marks the 21st anniversary of Sexual Assault Awareness Month," said Shanita Pettaway, director of Title IX Compliance and Title IX coordinator. "It is my understanding that this is the first time that the university will incorporate a library display into its observance of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. I am elated that our office initiated this approach to spread awareness to the campus community about sexual assault."

The campaign is intended to provide resources and support for the campus community, as well as information about the legal definition of consent and guidance for involved parties.

"As an institution of higher education, learning is paramount," Pettaway said. "So, I thought, what better way to spread awareness to the campus community about sexual assault than through educational resources from the University Libraries?"

Resources for Sexual Assault Awareness Month beyond the libraries' collections are available on the National Sexual Violence Resource Center website.
