Are you interested in psychology and biology? Are you someone who is conscientious and interested in learning more about the research process? Do you want three credits of 207V for the fall semester? If your answers to these questions is "yes," this opportunity may be right for you!

The Spark Lab is directed by Stacey Makhanova, a social psychologist in the Department of Psychological Science, and is seeking undergraduate research assistants for Fall 2022.

"We study how various biological factors – hormones, immune system function, hormonal birth control – affect people's social psychology," Makhanova said. "We currently have a strong focus on women's health and women's reproductive decisions surrounding hormonal contraceptive use, but we also study many different things: stress, affiliation, romantic relationships, prejudice and other elements of social cognition."

Interested students should have eight to nine hours of availability in their Fall 2022 schedule to work in the lab and be able to come to lab meetings from 4-5 p.m. on Wednesdays. Interested students do not need to be a psychology major.

Learn more about Spark Lab online and submit an application by noon on Friday, April 29, to be considered for 207V credit for Fall 2022. The appication is available online at sparklab.uark.edu/joinlab.

Please contact Makhanova at ammakhan@uark.edu if you have questions.
