The Communication Sciences and Disorders Program is excited to announce that Stephanie Hicks, a certified speech-language pathologist as well as a certified academic language therapist, will be joining the faculty. She will be offering speech-language therapy services and supervising graduate and undergraduate student clinicians starting this summer.

Hicks completed her master's degree at the U of A in 1993. She then worked in a variety of settings including early childhood, adult inpatient/outpatient settings and school-based settings. She has extensive experience working with children with learning differences and worked at The Shelton School in Dallas, Texas, for 16 years. She has completed training in Take Flight, The Association Method and the SEE (Sequential English Education) program — all reading programs for dyslexia.

After returning to Fayetteville in 2015, she served students in public and private school settings, in addition to private practice therapy.  She has supervised graduate students in the field of speech language pathology since 1995. She will be providing therapy for children and teens with reading difficulties, speech sound disorders and/or language disorders starting in early June this year.

Program Director Rachel Glade stated, "We are incredibly lucky to have someone with such vast clinical experience and unique clinical expertise to join our program. This is a great opportunity for our students and another way our clinic can better serve the community."
