An instructor teaches a course for University of Arkansas Professional and Workforce Development at the Collaborative in Bentonville.

The University of Arkansas Professional and Workforce Development division of the Global Campus has issued a call for local subject matter experts to teach courses for Northwest Arkansas residents to build their personal, professional and workforce skills.

Volunteers are asked to share their knowledge and expertise through non-credit training ranging from multi-session to one-time lecture courses, including interactive, hands-on workshops or outdoor activities. It's an opportunity for instructors to highlight their business, field or industry and share their love for a topic with other like-minded individuals. For U of A faculty members, it's a new avenue to reach potential students.

Classes will be taught at the division's Bentonville location in the Collaborative, 704 SE 5th St. The deadline to submit proposals is Sept. 20. A form is available on the call for proposals website. The website also lists incentives of being an instructor, including resume boost, networking, future paid teaching opportunities, a VIP reception and access to the new Collaborative facility, which is the U of A's education and research presence in Bentonville. It is part of the Integrative and Innovative Research (I3R) effort at the U of A begun in 2020.

The classes are one part of the division's mission to support the Arkansas workforce by offering low-cost training and enrichment opportunities with an overall goal of building the region's economy. Once courses are developed, the Global Campus will maintain the registration and enrollment process for participants, including certificate distribution.

For more information about the process and responsibilities of the Global Campus and the instructor, please visit the call for proposals website.
