UREC Set to Host Tsa La Gi Bike Park Grand Opening Celebration Today

A grand opening celebration for the university's Tsa La Gi Bike Park is scheduled from 4-6 p.m. today, Thursday, Aug. 25. This event is open to all and will include music, food and a host of organizations focused on connection within the bike community with remarks and a ribbon cutting at 4:30 p.m. During the event, University Recreation Outdoors will provide mountain bikes for students to ride free of charge.
The Tsa La Gi Bike Park is nestled in the trees behind the UREC Tennis Center located at 1357 W. Indian Trail off Martin Luther King Boulevard in Fayetteville. The park features three main trails with options to break away and choose your own adventure further from the hub. Green rated trails, and one blue rated trail, offer riders the perfect space to progress and find success in their riding skills. The park has options for riders to choose jumps, drops, rock gardens and flow. These features are practice tools designed for riders of all levels to enjoy the park and take their improved skills to the trails.
"UREC is excited to have a green space program that offers riders of all levels and abilities to progress in their bike skills," said Caitlin Arnett, UREC Outdoors coordinator. "It really is the perfect classroom, and I think students will get a lot out of having such a unique amenity on campus. It's the type of space where so much growth can happen in so little time."
The Tsa La Gi Bike Park was planned and developed by Trailblazers and constructed by Nomadic Trailbuilders as part of a gift to the U of A and city of Fayetteville from Tom Walton and Steuart Walton. The first years of maintenance are also being provided through their generous support. It also connects to the Northwest Arkansas Razorback Regional Greenway and is a cornerstone of the Fayetteville Traverse currently being built through campus.
