NSSLHA Chapter at U of A Awarded 2022 Gold Chapter Honors

The National Student Speech Language-Hearing Association has been awarded the NSSLHA Chapter at the U of A, a registered student organization on campus, with 2022 Gold Chapter Honors.

Contributions made by the U of A chapter to achieve Gold Chapter Honors included:

  • Maintaining National NSSLHA chapter affiliation
  • Posting monthly chapter updates in the NSSLHA community
  • Maintaining 30 percent national NSSLHA membership within the chapter
  • Participating in community outreach activities
  • Participating in legislative advocacy
  • Fundraising $200 for ASHFoundation's NSSLHA Scholarship

National NSSLHA Chapter Honors are awarded to affiliated NSSLHA chapters that demonstrate an outstanding effort to support National NSSLHA's mission to inspire, empower and support students in communication sciences and disorders programs.

Along with achieving Gold Honors, the 123 members of the NSSLHA chapter at the U of A also raised money for two amazing organizations: Children's Therapy TEAM and the Arkansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ArkSHA). The RSO votes to support different organizations each year. Children's Therapy TEAM is a local pediatric therapy provider in Northwest Arkansas. TEAM provides a family-centered approach in everything that they do in their clinic and provides the most services and treatment options in the NWA region. ArkSHA is our statewide speech-language-hearing association that promotes the advocacy, education and mentoring of audiologists, speech-language pathologists and future professionals. Some of our own NSSLHA members presented at the ArkSHA convention in October of 2021.

The U of A NSSLHA chapter raised money through percentage nights and other endeavors to support these organizations. They also provided holiday donations to the NWA Children's Shelter and participated in events with the Arkansas Hands and Voices Organization.
