U of A's Open Access Showcase

The U of A's institutional repository, ScholarWorks@UARK, showcases the talents of the campus community and opens the benefits of our research to the world. Created in 2015, the digital repository is hosted by Scholarly Communications, a department in the University Libraries. Its success, however, depends on faculty, staff and students who generously share their research, teaching materials and creative work. The vast majority of the content in ScholarWorks@UARK is open access, freely available to anyone, anywhere, with access to the web. And, clearly, the contributors' generosity has a global impact. From January through June 2022, for example, the repository recorded 764,282 views and downloads; web visitors came from 222 different nations, ranging from Spain to Japan, from Norway to South Africa.

ScholarWorks@UARK makes publications from the U of A's research centers and departments available to researchers and scholars worldwide. Business professionals, too, will find essential information about the Arkansas economy in the surveys, reports and presentations sponsored by the Center for Business and Economic Research.

The repository provides a range of instructional materials for learners of different ages. Middle school students will want to try the science lessons created by the POETS Research Experience for Teachers. High school students can watch videos and participate in activities from summer programs, such as FAY Design Camp. College students can use open textbooks created by U of A faculty and view recorded lectures from Honors classes. They will also find inspiration from U of A student dissertations, theses, research posters and research journals. Everyone can discover handy diet and exercise tips in the guides and videos produced by the Center for Human Nutrition.

Those seeking wholesome entertainment will enjoy the Music Department's concert recordings, the student literary magazine Diamond Line, photographs from the Study Abroad Photo Contest and documentary films created by award-winning faculty.
