2022 Homecoming Celebrations Are Coming Up and All Are Invited

The 2022 University of Arkansas’ Homecoming celebration will take place Oct. 28-Nov. 5, and all members of the U of A family are welcome to attend events during the week-long celebration.

Calling All Hogs Home: 100 Years of Tradition

The Arkansas Alumni Association is eagerly anticipating this year’s Homecoming celebration. Homecoming is a long-standing tradition at the U of A, which began with the first Homecoming parade held on Nov. 16, 1922, nearly 100 years ago. That year was the university’s semi-centennial celebration, while this year’s theme will recognize 100 years of the Homecoming tradition.

The alumni association will being hosting and promoting several opportunities to connect and engage with one of the university’s oldest traditions starting with the Homecoming Kickoff on Friday, Oct. 28, and culminating with the Razorback football game against Liberty on Nov. 5. 

Homecoming Parade and Pep Rally

This year’s Homecoming parade will follow the same route it has followed for the previous 18 years. Organizations and businesses from campus and the greater NWA community are invited to participate, as the parade will make its way down Dickson Street beginning at Highland Avenue and ending at Harmon Avenue. 

The Homecoming pep rally will follow inside the Chi Omega Greek Theatre. The Razorback Booster Club invites students, alumni and the Northwest Arkansas community to also attend.

During the Homecoming pep rally, former Homecoming royalty will be recognized along with spirit squad alumni and Razorback Band alumni. The 2022 Homecoming Court will be introduced, and the newest Homecoming queen and king will be revealed.

Homecoming Schedule of Events

Below are the currently scheduled events and available volunteer opportunities:

Friday, Oct. 28

• The Homecoming online auction goes live! Bidding begins at 10 a.m. and continues until 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11. 
• Homecoming Kickoff co-hosted by the Associated Student Government and the Arkansas Alumni Association - Union Mall; 11 a.m.

Monday, Oct. 31

• Volunteer Action Center’s Sixth Annual Pack the Pantry – Oct. 31 - Nov. 11 

Thursday, Nov. 3

• MSOM virtual networking event – Zoom; 6:30-7:30 p.m. 

Friday, Nov. 4

• Lawn decorations and banners displayed on campus.
• Class of 2020 Senior Walk Dedication – Inn at Carnall Hall; 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. 
• ASG Alumni Society Homecoming Mixer – Grubs Bar & Grill; 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. 
• Homecoming Parade - Dickson Street; 6 p.m.
• 77th Alumni Awards Celebration – Fayetteville Town Center; 6 p.m. 
• Pep Rally - Chi Omega Greek Theater; 7:30 p.m.
• NPHC Homecoming Step Show – Verizon Ballroom in the Arkansas Union; 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 5 

• Arkansas Alumni Hog Wild Tailgate - Janelle Y. Hembree Alumni House; 1 - 2:30 p.m.
• Bumpers College Alumni Society Tailgate - Maudine Sanders Student Plaza and Garden and Hawkins Family Terrace; 12:30 p.m.
• Alumni chapter watch parties around the U.S.
• Arkansas vs. Liberty football game – Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium; 3 p.m.
