Pi Sigma Alpha, the political science honor society, invites students to attend the Midterms Watch Party, an informational event held at 7 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8, in Arkansas Union 424.
The Midterms Watch Party will give students the chance to watch the results of the 2022 midterm elections, while learning about the American political process. Rebecca Thompson, a retired U.S. Foreign Service officer of the U.S. State Department, will be speaking about her experiences and the importance of public service. In her 40-year career, she served in embassies from South Korea to France to Venezuela. She now resides in Fayetteville, where she works with international students learning English.
Pi Sigma Alpha at the U of A is the local branch of the national Political Science Honors Society. Pi Sigma Alpha hopes to connect political science students at the U of A with professional opportunities, scholarships and educational resources - all while promoting the importance of strong civic values and a quality political education.
The Midterms Watch Party will include a lecture on the importance of civil service, a discussion on the incoming election results and a cocktail hour with Southern delicacies and beverages. Attend the Midterms Watch Party to promote the diversity of viewpoints through discussing the importance of bipartisanship, identify relevant issues to the 2022 midterm elections and to foster a greater sense of community on campus.
This event is supported by the Student Activities Fee as a funded event by the Associated Student Government and is free to all currently enrolled University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, students who pay the student activities fee.
