Literacy Clinic Seeking Student Tutors, Hosting Informational Meeting Nov. 8
The Arkansas Department of Education and the Office of Education Renewal Zones recently launched Arkansas Tutoring Corps to serve the academic needs of students across the state.
The University of Arkansas Clinic for Literacy is an approved tutoring site. U of A students from all majors are invited to apply. Students can earn extra income while honing their teaching skills and serving children in the local community. Qualified tutors are eligible to receive stipends up to $3,000 in their first year.
The literacy clinic will host an informational meeting from 4-4:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, in Peabody Hall, room 318.
Tutoring applicants will be required to:
- Pass child maltreatment and background checks.
- Complete several hours of paid training in literacy, math, building positive relationships with students and families, classroom/behavior management, and meeting the social and emotional needs of learners.
