Ghent University Representatives to Discuss Food System Study Abroad Program With Students

The Sustainability in the European Food System study abroad trip is May 13-June 3.

All students in U of A's Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences interested in the May intercession Sustainability in the European Food System study abroad trip are invited to meet with representatives from Ghent University this week to learn more about that and other programs.

Hilde Vandecasteele and Michel Flement of GU's dean's office and international office, respectively, are on campus Tuesday and Wednesday. Any student interested in learning more about the May program or other international programs, including graduate school opportunities, at Ghent University, is encouraged to stop by.

Vandecasteele and Flement are going to be in the atrium of the AFLS Building on Tuesday from 10:15-10:45 a.m. and from 1:30-2:30 p.m. They will be in the Waldrip Student Center (room 205) in the Agriculture Building on Wednesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and 2-2:30 p.m.

The Sustainability in the European Food System May intercession trip is May 13-June 3. Information is also available at the Hogs Abroad portal.

This program explores specific issues in environmental sustainability from a European perspective. Students are exposed to scientists working collaboratively across agriculture, natural resource management, food production, manufacturing and alternative fuel resources. It includes lectures from leading European scientists, tours of relevant industries and marketplaces, and interactions with European students. It primarily takes place in Ghent, Belgium, in Western Europe. The program provides a significant on-site learning experience not available on campus.
