The Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design at the U of A is accepting scholarship applications for the 2023-24 academic year. Scholarship application information and descriptions are available on the school's website.

The Fay Jones School manages the application process for more than 80 scholarships, some of which are specific to the student's year level or degree major. The school awarded more than $270,000 in scholarships for the 2022-23 academic year.

"The school's scholarship funds have grown exponentially over the last 10 years," said Peter MacKeith, dean of the school. "We're fortunate to have loyal and generous alumni, friends and benefactors, all of whom believe in our mission and, in particular, in our students. I encourage all Fay Jones School students to seek assistance from these funds."

This year, there are four new scholarships available: CGA Architects Travel Award in Design, Jeff Shannon Endowed Scholarship in Architectural and Design Studies, Lewis Architects Engineers Endowed Scholarship and StudioMAIN's RISE Endowed Award in Design Excellence. All four of the new scholarships are classified as "all school" scholarships, meaning they are open for students in any degree major.

Other scholarships added in recent years for students in any degree major include the Kevin and Stephanie Wilcox Advance Arkansas Endowed Scholarship, Wallace Caradine Memorial Scholarship, Robert B. Norcross Endowed Scholarship in Design Excellence, Peter L. Schaudt Memorial Scholarship for Collaborative Design, Andrew A. Kinslow and Russell W. Kirkpatrick Diversity Award for Design Excellence, Ken and Liz Allen Award in Design and Marlon and Meryati J. Blackwell Advance Arkansas Endowed Scholarship.

Scholarships added in recent years for architecture students include the Jeff and Carole Klugh Shannon Scholarship in Architecture and the Pella Scholarship for Architecture Design Excellence. A recently added scholarship for architecture and interior architecture and design students is the Taggart Architects Advance Arkansas Endowed Scholarship in Memory of Jerry E. Currence.

"Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, we are able to fund amazing opportunities for our students," said Melinda Smith, the school's director of student services. "Take study abroad, for example: we are poised to offer nearly $120,000 to those traveling abroad this coming academic year. All you have to do is apply!"

Students must complete the general scholarship application process online before applying for school-specific scholarships. The general scholarship application is available on the U of A Academic Scholarship Office website.

The application process will close at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, when the online application will no longer be available. Applications will be evaluated after the applicants are matched with the scholarships for which they are eligible.

Available scholarships may also be found on the school's admissions page, under the scholarships drop down.

The applicants selected for the Fay Jones School scholarships will be notified by April 1.
