Graduate and Senior STEM Majors: Apply Now for 2023 NSF Noyce Fellowship

Applications are still being accepted until April 1 for the awarding of a minimum of five NSF-funded Noyce Scholarships at the U of A to support graduating STEM majors to become secondary science or math teachers through the one-year Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) program, which begins May 30.
Noyce Fellows will receive paid in-state tuition and fees to support completing the M.A.T. degree, leading to Arkansas teacher licensure for grades 7-12 in either biology, chemistry, physics or mathematics. Fellows also receive a $10,000 annual stipend for each of their first four years of teaching in a high-need school district of their choice anywhere in the U.S.
Graduates and seniors in biology, chemistry, physics, geology, mathematics, engineering and other STEM fields can apply. The deadline is April 1, 2023, but applications will be accepted after that date if openings still remain.

In addition to the M.A.T. coursework and teaching internship, Noyce Teaching Fellows will:
- Experience what "authentic practice" means in the disciplines of science or mathematics and how it can deepen passion for teaching the subject.
- Learn teaching practices that develop student agency.
- Mentor secondary students to prepare a project for the Northwest Arkansas Regional Science, Mathematics and Engineering Fair and create your own project.
Preferred qualifications:
- Degree in a STEM discipline (awarded by May 2023)
- 3.0 GPA
- Experience in authentic practice in the discipline such as research, science and engineering fairs, Mu Alpha Theta, STEM-related academic clubs, etc.
