Society of Art Historians Hosts inaugural Art History Symposium Feb. 25

The Society of Art Historians RSO invites students to attend the inaugural Art History Symposium from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, in Hillside Auditorium 206. The symposium will feature a selection of student presentations on a wide range of subjects related to art history, art criticism and museum studies. Students will be giving 20-minute talks on their research papers, followed by a five-minute Q&A from the audience. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn and engage with a diverse range of art historical topics, issues and conversations, as well as to meet students involved in the RSO and art history program.  

The event is not ticketed and is open to only U of A students. 

The symposium will also feature a keynote lecture by Abigail Susik, current Tyson Scholar at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and professor of art history at Willamette University. Susik will be giving a lecture on her recent book, Surrealist Sabotage and the War on Work (Manchester University Press, 2021). A catered lunch will also be provided to all attendees.  

This event is supported by the Student Activities Fee as a funded event by the Associated Student Government and is free to all currently enrolled University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, students who pay the student activities fee.
