Brown Bag Lunch Talk Events for Spring 2023

The Office of Research Integrity and Compliance will hold brown bag lunch talks this spring. Interested faculty, staff and students are encouraged to bring their own (brown bag) lunch and join us at the Office of Research Integrity and Compliance. Soft drinks, coffee, water and snacks will be provided. All talks will take place at the Office of Research Integrity and Compliance, 1424 W. Institutional Biosafety
Tuesday, Feb. 14, 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Jim Hogan, the Institutional Biosafety Committee coordinator, will present a brief workshop on what types of research need an IBC protocol and the protocol submission process. Most importantly, he will cover why rDNA research needs an IBC protocol.

A Walkthrough of the IRB Submission Process: How to Create, Complete and Submit an IRB Protocol in Streamlyne

Join Ro Windwalker, coordinator for the Institutional Review Board, for "A Walkthrough of the IRB Submission Process: How to Create, Complete and Submit an IRB Protocol in Streamlyne." If you already have an idea of the research you plan to conduct, please come prepared to ask questions with your specific protocol in mind.

What is Export Control?
Thursday, March 2, 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Melvin Torres, export control officer, will provide an overview of his area of expertise with "What is Export Control?"

Animal Care Q & A
Friday, March 3, 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Please join Rebecca Kavanaugh, program manager for the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, for an Animal Care and Use Q&A. This will be an informal discussion of the regulations, forms and procedures for performing research with animals. Faculty, staff and graduate students working with, or planning to work with, non-agricultural vertebrate animals are encouraged to attend.

Responsible Conduct of Research
Tuesday, March 7, 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Please join Benjamin Purvis for a presentation that introduces subjects related to the responsible conduct of research. Topics include research integrity, research misconduct and conflict of interest.
