Receive Athletic Apparel and Up to $75 for Participating in Tick-Bite Prevention Study
If you are an adult (age 18+) with no known history of severe allergic reactions to insect or tick bites, you may be eligible to participate in a research study to determine whether wearing insect repellent-treated or untreated athletic-style base-layer leggings provides protection against tick bites.
Participants would complete one to three laboratory visits (two to three hours each), during which they would be exposed to ticks while wearing leggings, pants or a combination of both. During the experiment, participants will be asked to perform a series of light physical activities (e.g. walking in place) for 30 minutes at a time, for three to four times per visit. Ticks will be removed by researchers after the exposure to evaluate the protection provided by these garments.
Participants will receive up to $75, as well as free athletic-style leggings and/or pants (valued at up to $220).
