The Center for Multicultural and Diversity Education and the Department of International Students and Scholars are proud to announce the 20th edition of the U of A's Human Library, which will take place March 14-16. Driven by a mission to cultivate safe spaces and promote tolerance through heart-to-heart conversations, the Human Library seeks volunteers to share their life's stories as human books.

Human books will receive volunteer hours through GivePulse. To demonstrate your interest in participating as a human book, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/5FPVNTsekJhcJmjf7.

Established in 2000, the Human Library is designed to build a positive framework for conversations that can challenge stereotypes and prejudices through dialogue. We welcome all kinds of diverse stories as a library does, that not only challenge prejudices and stereotypes but also uplift, educate and encourage readers. The Human Library is a place where real people are on loan to readers—a place where difficult questions are expected, appreciated and answered.

The U of A's Human Library began in 2009 and is proud to be a part of the larger international Human Library Organization based out of Copenhagen, Denmark. Past book titles at the U of A's Human Library include:

  • Life in a War-Torn Country
  • The Tsunami That Brought Me to Arkansas
  • Escaping the Delta
  • Giving Birth in the US and Nigeria - Two Perspectives
  • Familiar Strangers: Nurturing a Queer Community in NWA
  • Running on Faith
  • Delusions of Grandeur: From Conservative and Sheltered to Fierce and Fabulous
  •  A Muslim Woman's Story

Your story MATTERS, TESTIFIES, DISMANTLES, EMPOWERS and UNIFIES. Thank you for trusting us with your story.
