According to the Office for Scholarly Communications' 2022 Annual Progress Report released in January 2023, research from the U of A was accessed by users from 226 countries last year.

The repository, ScholarWorks@UARK, is a collection of research, scholarship and creative work by the Fayetteville flagship campus community that is available without charge to web users worldwide. The total number of items hosted in ScholarWorks@UARK increased by more than 10% last year, with a total of 16,840 items as of December 2022.

"It is important that the undergraduate students protect their precious research work by appropriately documenting in ScholarWorks," said Suresh Thallapuranam, director of the Office of Undergraduate Research and editor of Inquiry: The University of Arkansas Undergraduate Research Journal. "The research published in the Inquiry journal are products of high quality undergraduate research on this campus. All Inquiry contributions are peer-reviewed by in-house expert faculty. In this context, it is important to formalize and document the Inquiry journal in the university's institutional repository."

U of A students, faculty, staff, academic departments and research centers are welcome to submit research and creative works to the repository, and guidelines are available online, along with instructions for submission. Submitting work to the repository enhances its visibility, availability and impact. This can fulfill open access requirements for research sponsored by organizations and government agencies, and it supports the U of A's Open Access Policy. Authors can instantly access statistics on views and downloads, along with geographic information.

The Office for Scholarly Communications is a unit of the University Libraries. The U of A is committed to disseminating its research and scholarship as widely as possible.
