Service Learning Lunch and Learn for Faculty: Thesis Hours How-To

Please join the Service Learning Initiative from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, for our Lunch and Learn panel discussion. This event is for faculty only and will be held in 258 Gearhart Hall (Honors College). Lunch is on us and will be served at 11 a.m. Please RSVP to svclrn01@uark.edu.

The panel discussion will be led by award-winning service learning faculty Lisa Bowers, Rogelio Garcia Contreras and Gabriel Diaz Montemayor. They will discuss "best practices" with service learning thesis hours for faculty. How does a student fulfill a thesis project? What does a service learning thesis entail? The faculty panel will discuss their experiences and provide a Q&A discussion for faculty involved in service learning theses and faculty who want to incorporate the service learning component to their directives.

About the Service Learning Initiative: The Service Learning Initiative is a joint initiative of the U of A Provost's Office and the Honors College with the purpose of formalizing and expanding service learning opportunities on campus. Since 2014, when the initiative was launched, more than 150 courses have been designated as Service Learning. Each semester, faculty and course instructors are encouraged to apply for Service Learning course designation. More information regarding Service Learning Course Designation can be found on the Service Learning Initiative website.
