Weekly Digital Humanities Meet-Up
On Thursday, March 2, Jhonatan Carmona Tangarife, a Master of Arts candidate in Spanish, will lead the Weekly Digital Humanities Meet-Up in a workshop that will run from 3:30-5 p.m. Carmona will demonstrate different digital tools that can be incorporated in the language classroom with an interactive and engaging workshop in the World Languages & Digital Humanities Studio, J.B. Hunt Center, room 207.
This workshop will demonstrate how to use digital tools to help educators create and promote collaborative classrooms. By using these DH tools, students are consistently active and engaged in the lessons. They are more willing to participate and get rid of the fear of making mistakes in the target language. In a setting where students feel demotivated or have difficulties when learning a world language, the use of digital tools can help make content more approachable and engaging. This workshop explores innovative tools that can incorporate any language content and/or lesson with fun activities to help students to enjoy learning on a different level. Through using tools like Lyrics Training, Baamboozle, Class Tools and Gimkit, students can acquire knowledge that benefits their learning process and performance in the classroom.
This workshop is free and open to the U of A community with special attention to educators and language instructors.

The Weekly DH Meet-Up is a series of workshops that demonstrate the intersections of digital humanities with digital pedagogy. The field of digital humanities broadly focuses on the application of technology to disciplines within the humanities (such as history and literature). The Weekly DH Meet-Up is held on alternating Wednesdays and Thursdays, and all future sessions can be found on the UARK Campus Calendar.
