Amber Hutchinson Hired as New Director of Pre-Award Sponsored Programs

Amber Hutchinson has assumed a new role as the director of Pre-Award Sponsored Programs for the Office of Sponsored Programs in the Division of Research and Innovation.

Before assuming the new role as director of Pre-Award Sponsored Programs, Hutchinson has been working at the U of A since 2008 when she started as an administrative assistant for Enrollment Services, working as an assistant to the associate director for Information Technology and Communications. Hutchinson holds a Bachelor of Arts in journalism with a concentration in print/editorial and a Master of Science in health science, community health from the U of A.

Prior to her promotion, Hutchinson served as a senior grant specialist for the Office of Sponsored Programs, responsible for the coordination of pre-award and/or post-award activities relating to sponsored research. Her work in this role was recently recognized when she received the Employee of the Quarter Award, following nomination by faculty researchers.

Margaret Sova McCabe, interim vice chancellor of the division, said, "Amber is exactly the type of talent the university seeks to attract and retain. She's grown professionally since her start in 2008, and she illustrates how our employees contribute to the university's success by their willingness to take on new challenges. Amber will excel in this role, and we're excited that she's taking on leadership of pre-award sponsored programs."

Hutchinson assumed her new role on March 1.
