The School of Art in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences is pleased to welcome designer Rick Griffith to campus and the school's Visiting Lecture Series. The lecture will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 6, at Hillside Auditorium.

Griffith is a British-West-Indian collagist, writer, letterpress printer, designer and optimist futurist based in Denver, Colorado. As a designer, he works at the intersection of programming, policy and production. He is a co-founder and partner with Debra Johnson of the graphic design consultancy MATTER.

"It is with great pleasure that we welcome Rick Griffith to the School of Art," said Ryan Slone, assistant professor of graphic design. "As a designer, form-maker and a true creative force, his multifaceted pursuits will undoubtedly make this an event to remember."

Griffith is the designer behind the Black Astronaut Research Project (BLARP), The Pledge for Spaces and The Introductory Ethic for Designers and Other Thinking Persons. He co-owns a retail revolutionary bookstore and book club for designers, and DJs a live Internet radio show, Design To Kill.

In addition, he is a columnist for PRINTmagazine.com, the two-time programming chair for the AIGA National Conference and the 2023 Acuff Chair at Austin Peay State University.

Griffith's works are collected and exhibited worldwide and can be found in the permanent collections of The Denver Art Museum, The Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum, Columbia University's Rare Book and Manuscript Library and The Tweed Museum at the University of Minnesota, Duluth.

All are invited to learn more about Griffith and his work at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 6, at Hillside Auditorium, room 206.
