Undergraduate Research Week is set for April 17-21, and the U of A is celebrating with a slate of information sessions, panel discussions and advising opportunities, in addition to its annual poster competition. The schedule is as follows:

Monday, April 17

Research in the Humanities Panel
2-3 p.m. — Mullins Library (Level 4, room 439)
Do you wonder if research is for you? Join our panel of university librarians and guests from the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art as they discuss the wide and wonderful world of humanities research.  

Incorporating Mentor Feedback Workshop With the Writing Studio
3-4 p.m. — Mullins Library (Level 4, room 453/Instant Theater)
You spent countless hours pouring your heart and soul into your thesis, but your mentor has returned your draft with feedback ominously crowding the margins of every page. Now what? Don't worry, we've got you covered! In this workshop, Writing Studio consultants will validate those feelings and share strategies for navigating mentor feedback like a pro. 

Tuesday, April 18

Honors Thesis or Capstone Project, Need to Identify Faculty Advisers or Mentors?
11 a.m. to noon — Zoom
Attend this session led by librarian Luti Salisbury to (a) learn of the research that is completed or is ongoing at the U of A in the various subject areas and (b) identify the researchers who are conducting this research and study their scholarly publishing. This session will also provide tips and guidance on how to identify and approach faculty when seeking mentors or advisers.

Almost Finished Your Undergraduate Degree? Learn How to Identify Graduate Programs and Advisers in Your Area
2-3 p.m. — Zoom
Attend this session led by librarian Luti Salisbury to learn how to identify areas of research that you may want to pursue after graduation. You will learn how to find universities that are doing research, and which faculty at those institutions are involved. This session will also instruct on the measures to be used to study the scholarly achievements of the faculty you have identified, which will allow you to make informed decisions.

Professor and Pizza on the Patio: Research
5-6:15 p.m. — Hotz Honors Hall patio
Join us for pizza on the Hotz Honors Hall patio and hear faculty from different colleges and majors talk about their own research and how you can get involved in research!

Research and Your Resume
3:30-4 p.m. — Zoom
Join Dr. Hancox to learn how to best present your research on your resume to grab the attention of employers, graduate and professional schools.

Wednesday, April 19

Final Countdown with ScholarWorks@UARK (Session 1 of 2)
2-4 p.m. — Mullins Library (Level 4, east side, next to the spiral staircase)
The University Libraries and the Honors College invite all Honors undergraduate students to an in-person Final Countdown event. No appointment is necessary, and swag bags will be provided while supplies last. Students can drop in to learn about the U of A's institutional repository, ScholarWorks@UARK, and receive information about submitting their honors thesis. Jay McAllister, Honors College librarian, will be present to answer any questions along with Chelsea Hodge, director of grants and research innovation for the Honors College.

Thursday, April 20

Research Poster Session
11:30-1 p.m. — Union Ballroom
Join us for a drop-in research poster session featuring undergraduate students' research! Come see great examples of research and chat with students about their work. Cookies, coffee and lemonade provided.

How to Become Exposed to Research Opportunities
Noon to 1 p.m. — Zoom
This online presentation will primarily focus on introducing and discussing potential best practices to become exposed to research opportunities for undergraduate students, particularly those from under-represented communities.

Final Countdown With ScholarWorks@UARK (Session 2 of 2)
2-4 p.m. — Gearhart Hall (GEAR), room 310

All donated bikes will be given to Pedal It Forward, a local nonprofit that will refurbish your bike and return it to the U of A campus to be gifted to a student in need. Hundreds of students have already benefited.
