Rome Center Faculty Fellow Application Deadline Set for May 15

U of A faculty members interested in conducting research, scholarship or creative activity abroad can now apply to be a Rome Center Faculty Fellow for the 2023-24 school year, with an application deadline of May 15.
All full-time faculty can apply for the fellowship, which is funded through the Graduate School and International Education. The opportunity provides funding for a four-to-six-week residency in the Rome Center in either the fall or spring term. Fellows must also provide at least one general lecture to the students of the Rome Center.
The fellowship seeks to leverage the Rome Center as a hub for engagement in Europe and the Mediterranean region, offering opportunities for faculty to advance their scholastic activity while engaging in the culture of Rome and the Rome Center.
This is the second year of the Rome Center Faculty Fellowship. The inaugural fellow, Larry Foley, researched and filmed a documentary on Tontitown Italians during his fellowship last fall.
The fellowship stipend includes up to $2,000 in round-trip airfare, housing, a $1,000 travel stipend and international supplemental insurance. All other costs, such as food, local transportation and personal living expenses, are at the cost of the participant.
Those interested in applying to be a Rome Center Faculty Fellow should email Fran Hagstrom, associate dean of GSIE, at fhagstr@uark.edu with the following information:
- Updated resume
- Short description of the research project that the candidate intends to develop while in Rome/Europe
- Two letters of support from the school/college/unit to which the candidate belongs
- Signature of approval of department/program/unit head and approval by the appropriate dean's office
