The Women's Giving Circle will be inducted into the Arkansas Women's Hall of Fame during a ceremony on Thursday, Aug. 24, at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock.

The Women's Giving Circle is composed of U of A alumnae and friends who recognize that women have the power to make a tremendous impact as philanthropic leaders. The circle has awarded more than $1.7 million to fund 145 university projects and programs. Their funding priorities are to support and promote scholarship, research and service; to enrich the quality of life of women and children; and to encourage outreach and engagement in Arkansas.
"It's a great honor for the Women's Giving Circle to receive this recognition and be inducted into the Arkansas Women's Hall of Fame alongside many Arkansas trailblazers," said Kellie Knight, executive director of the Women's Giving Circle. "Women's Giving Circle has partnered with dynamic faculty and staff for over 20 years to help create programs, test project ideas and advance research endeavors. This recognition will help propel us to make a larger impact at the university and around the state in the future."

The Arkansas Women's Hall of Fame was established in 2014 and honors women who have positively influenced the direction of Arkansas. It recognizes women across the state who have made significant and enduring contributions to their field of endeavor; impacted the social, cultural, economic or political well-being of the community, state or nation; elevated the status of women and positively impacted women and girls; helped open new frontiers for women and for society in general; and inspired others by their example. The class of 2023 includes three additional honorees with ties to the U of A: Sandy Edwards, Cathy Hastings Owen and Dorothy Hoover.

The Women's Giving Circle was formed in 2002 by members of the Women and Philanthropy Committee and Campaign for the Twenty-First Century Steering Committee. The group's purpose is to create a substantial pool of resources in support of innovative programs and research at the university and to encourage women as change makers.
