Dean's Excellence Awards Honor Engineering Faculty

College of Engineering Dean Kim Needy recognized seven faculty members with Dean's Excellence Awards for their achievements in teaching, research and service during a faculty-staff meeting May 5. The faculty members were nominated by their departments for excellent performance during the 2022-23 academic year.

"Faculty excellence drives successful outcomes for students, who are always front and center of everything we do," Needy said. "It gives me great pleasure to recognize these exceptional performers who are leading the way in the college's mission to educate, serve our communities and work toward solving the research challenges of our time."

The honorees are:

  • Rising Star Research Award: Young Hye Song, assistant professor, biomedical engineering.

  • Collaborative Research Faculty Award: Kyle Quinn, associate professor, biomedical engineering.

  • John L. Imhoff Outstanding Teaching Award: Chase Rainwater, professor and assistant department head, industrial engineering.

  • John L. Imhoff Outstanding Research Award: Xintao Wu, professor and research chair, computer science and computer engineering.

  • Rising Teaching Award: Cameron Murray, assistant professor, civil engineering.

  • Biggadike Teaching Award: Tish Pohl, teaching associate professor, industrial engineering.

  • Outstanding Public Service Award: Suman Mitra, assistant professor, civil engineering.
