Four faculty members completed all requirements for the Teaching and Faculty Support Center's Peer Observation of Teaching Certificate. The goal is to train peer observers to improve teaching, document effectiveness and create a community of practice.

Completing faculty members are:

  • Carl Smith, professor, Department of Landscape Architecture
  • Lynn Meade, teaching assistant professor, Student Success
  • Peggy Lee, teaching assistant professor, Eleanor Mann School of Nursing
  • Manuel Rossetti, university professor, College of Engineering

The peer observation program consists of classroom instruction and performing two practice observations with others in the program. In addition, each participant has one of their own classes observed. The objective is to provide meaningful feedback on observed classroom practices. All peer observations are confidential, formative and conducted in a spirit of mutual respect. Completers of the program earn a certificate and are placed on the Teaching and Faculty Support Center's website and are available to make formative observations for any U of A faculty upon request.

Established in 1992, the Wally Cordes Teaching and Faculty Support Center serves as an interactive resource for faculty to enhance teaching and learning. For more information on the peer observation program or to schedule a classroom observation, check out the TFSC web page.
