Career Connections is on a mission to assist undergraduate students with identifying on-campus student employment opportunities and provide hiring managers with resources that enable students to have meaningful employment experiences. Two steps are being taken to address this now:

  • The establishment of an associate director of on-campus student employment and
  • A call for information about employment opportunities across campus.

Cecilee Essary is now serving as the associate director of on-campus student employment with the vision to create an equitable network for students to find on-campus jobs and for students to be able to articulate how their on-campus job prepared them for their next steps.

Essary, with the support of the Offices of Career Connections, is calling for information about fall semester student employment opportunities on campus. To provide information about an opportunity in your department, you can fill out this form. If this form does not fit your specific hiring situation, reach out to Essary directly at cecileer@uark.edu.

Student employment was identified as a key priority during the summer 2023 Student Affairs Human-Centered Design workshop with the McMillan Innovation Studio. A team of four members across the division (Christian Robinson, Teah-Marie Bynion, Jody Cochran, and Cecilee Essary) went through the design thinking process to understand the landscape of student employment. They received survey responses from 250 students and used the information to identify potential solutions and programs to make the University the employer of choice for students.

One way students can interact directly with on-campus employers is at the upcoming On-Campus Student Jobs Fair from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, at the ARKU International Connections Lounge. More information about the fair can be found here
