Faculty Peer Mentoring Program Open for Participant Applications

Are you interested in participating in a peer mentoring circle with a small group of faculty sharing common interests? Faculty succeed when they have a network of mentors at different stages in their academic careers. The Office for Faculty Affairs offers a program that provides a mentoring structure outside of a faculty member's home department that promotes honest and open dialogue about challenges, successes and issues experienced by faculty participants.

The goal is not to replace department-level mentoring, but to add an additional layer of support for pre-tenure, tenured and non-tenure track faculty. Peer mentoring circles have the great potential to create new connections across colleges and disciplines and allow faculty members to participate in non-judgmental, inclusive and supportive conversations.

No member of a group — facilitator or mentee — will be from the same department or program. Peer Mentoring Circles will be organized based on professional interests and challenges indicated in the data survey. The program begins its fourth cycle in fall 2023.

If you want to join a Peer Mentoring Circle — a peer group of six to eight colleagues — sign up today. You will be matched with two faculty facilitators and a group of peers based on your availability and additional information collected. To participate you must be able to attend mentoring sessions once per month during the academic year.

Applications are due Sept. 15. Peer Mentoring Circles will begin meeting in October.
