Russian Movie 'Circus' to Be Shown Today

A playbill from the 1936 Russian movie 'Circus.'

The Russian program is showing the Soviet propaganda movie Circus (directed by Alexandrov, 1936) at 5 p.m. today, Aug. 29, in J.B. Hunt 207. It's a musical comedy with the famous Soviet actress Liubov Orlova and the Yiddish actor Solomon Mikhoels, as well as an African American actor named James Lloydovich Patterson, whose mother was Russian. The movie is in Russian with English subtitles.

Pizza will be served.

Before the movie screening, you will learn about the Russian Eurasian Student Organization, and about the Russian Studies minor.
