Russian Conversation 'The Nose,' or 'HOC'

The Russian conversation group "The Nose" meets from 5-6 p.m. Tuesdays in J.B. Hunt 207.
This is an informal gathering of all students of Russian and everyone who is interested in practicing and playing games such as Monopoly and Scrabble in Russian! We will meet every other Tuesday on these dates:

- Nov. 7
- Nov. 28
- Dec. 5
Our new Fulbright teaching assistant Alena Shestopalova from Cheliabinsk will be in charge of these meetings. If you cannot come for the entire hour, feel free to stop by just for as long as you can!
The name of the group comes from Nikolay Gogol's short story "The Nose," which is about a public servant who wakes up in St. Petersburg and realizes that his nose is gone. The public servant, named Kovalev, tries to catch the nose, but it refuses to recognize him because "the nose" has a higher rank than Kovalev. You can read the story here.
If you are interested in reading fiction, you can take Voices of Ukraine from 2-3:15 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday in Champions Hall 411 in the spring of 2024.
