Free Breakfast on Old Main Lawn Today for Anyone Riding a Bicycle
Free breakfast this morning on Old Main Lawn for bicycle commuters.
While every day is a good day to ride your bike to campus, the U of A Office for Sustainability would like to invite all students, faculty and staff to Cruise to Campus Wednesday on Sept. 6.
The Office for Sustainability is excited about bikes for environmental reasons, but you should consider commuting by bike to save money, avoid traffic, stay fit and prime your mind for learning.
"I commute by bike for selfish reasons. I'm happier, healthier, wealthier and honestly, my two mile commute is faster on bike than by car," said Eric Boles, director of the Office for Sustainability. "The reduced environmental impact is the icing on the cake."
This morning, the Office for Sustainability is launching Cruise to Campus Wednesday from 8-10 a.m. on the Old Main Lawn, where U of A affiliates can commute by bike for free coffee (bring your own mug for bonus points) and breakfast sandwiches, both provided by Onyx Coffee Lab. Joining us will be People for Bikes, Trailblazers and UREC Outdoors, so participants can learn more about bikes on campus and meet with other members of the biking community.
If you're new to riding to campus or just like riding with friends, please consider the Cruise to Campus Ride Ambassador program. Some of our loyal faculty and staff have signed up to lead commuting bike rides from set origins and start times. This Wednesday, all rides end at the free breakfast party on Old Main Lawn.
You can help with the active transportation movement on campus by riding your bicycle regularly with a smile on your face. With any luck, others will continue to join our movement.
