Honors College students are invited to spend eight weeks working abroad in Dublin, Ireland, this summer as part of the inaugural year of its international internship program.

In summer 2024, a cohort of students will gain invaluable international work experience, earn U of A academic credit and experience a rich cultural immersion while living and working abroad.

"We are so excited to have a cohort of Honors scholars heading to Dublin for this unique experience," said Louise Hancox, senior director of career innovation at the Honors College. "Students will get to work with an international employer while navigating life in a European capital. It's a wonderful learning opportunity set outside of the classroom."

The comprehensive program includes all the key services and support needed to enhance the international internship experience, including internship placement, housing, access to resident directors 24/7, international insurance, local cultural activities and more.

This opportunity is provided through the Honors College and a special partnership with Academic Programs International. Through careful program design, API will match students' learning and career objectives with an internship in Dublin. It will encompass a number of career development and cultural resources constructed to maximize students' time abroad.

Information sessions will be held in Gearhart Hall 129 from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, Sept. 14; from 1-2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22; and 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14. Students will apply directly through the U of A HogsAbroad portal. After submitting application materials, they will be reviewed by the Honors College Futures Hub. If approved, students will begin working with API on internship placement and the rest of the on-site logistics.

Applications are due Dec. 1.
