Gibson to Present Research on Breaking Transmission Pathways of Foodborne Viruses Today

We invite you to join us as we host Kristen Gibson for her research seminar titled "Research-Powered Solutions: Disrupting the Transmission Pathways of Foodborne Viruses." The seminar is Monday, Sept. 18, at 3:05 p.m., taking place at the Food Science building (room D1/D2) located at 2650 N. Young Ave.

For those unable to attend in person, the seminar will also be accessible via Zoom. This event is hosted by the Department of Food Science, in collaboration with the Center for Food Safety and the Center for Human Nutrition.

Gibson is a professor in the Department of Food Science and director of the Center for Food Safety for the U of A System Division of Agriculture. She received her Bachelor of Science in microbiology and molecular biology from the University of Central Florida and her Ph.D. in environmental health sciences from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Gibson's research interests are focused on understanding the fate and transport of human pathogens within the environment including leafy green production systems, optimization of methods for the detection of human pathogens in food and water and on environmental surfaces, and food safety at the retail and consumer level.
