Multicultural Center to Host Reception for Sueños: Dreaming With Our Eyes Open
Jesus David Lopez

The Multicultural Center invites you to Sueños: Dreaming with Our Eyes Open, a portrait gallery celebrating Latine/x UARK students, staff and community figures. The reception will be held Tuesday, Sept. 19, from 6-8 p.m. in the Anne Kittrell Gallery on the fourth floor of the Arkansas Union.

The opening receptions is made possible with support from the Latin American/Latino Studies program. The reception will have our team of talented photographers, videographers and creative directors present to share their experiences and insights. Enjoy refreshments as you witness a live mural painting by U of A alumna Lupita Albarrán.

The gallery features portraits of more than 40 students, alumni, staff and faculty members from heritage countries of Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and Panama. A component of the gallery is large participatory collages featuring the art, poetry and childhood photos of U of A Latine/x students.

The goal of Sueños is to capture the U of A's Latine/x students, staff and faculty embracing their dreams as present realities. Sueños envisions timelines where dreams are not regulated to future realms and where our dreams are not treated as threats.
