U of A's Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences won its week-long fundraising challenge last week against LSU's College of Agriculture.

The two colleges squared off for the second time in a friendly fundraising competition in conjunction with the Razorback-Tiger football game. The "Golden Boot Giving Challenge" crowdfunding contest ran from Sept. 16-23. It's based on total number of donors; each person can donate just once, and gifts can be in any amount, with a minimum of $5.

"What a fun campaign," interim dean Jean-Francois Meullenet said. "I want to thank everyone who participated in this effort with us — our alumni, donors, faculty, staff, students and others. As exciting as it is to win the challenge with LSU's College of Agriculture, it's more exciting that our supporters stepped up and raised more than $2,600 for the Bumpers College Alumni Society Scholarship fund. Students will directly benefit; that's the best part. Thank you again to everyone who took part in this entertaining, but important event."

Bumpers College won 171-147. The college's supporters raised $2,717, which will help fund student scholarships.

"The goal of this challenge, on both sides, is to engage new donors who are not often reached," said Dan Miller, Bumpers College's director of development and external relations. "We are excited that through this challenge, we inspired 318 people to give to support some of the most important academic programs in Arkansas and Louisiana."
