Days for Girls Workshop: Health Equity Theme

Days for Girls at the U of A invites students to attend a workshop to make sustainable menstrual health kits from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, in Kimpel Hall classroom 0314. This event will have the theme of health equity. We will be learning about how period poverty specifically affects underserved communities and minority populations here in Northwest Arkansas.

Days for Girls is a newly formed club that aims to increase free access to menstrual health products to underserved communities by distributing Days for Girls kits. Each kit come in a drawstring bag and includes reusable cloth menstrual pads made up of colorful shields and liners. Students are encouraged to attend this event to make the liner component of the kit. Students will be able to earn volunteer service hours for contributing their time while also learning about period poverty and the importance of reducing the stigma associated with menstruation. This workshop does not require sewing and is free to all U of A students.

This event is supported by the Student Activities Fee as a funded event by the Associated Student Government and is free to all currently enrolled University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, students who pay the student activities fee. This event is held in a venue that meets ADA standards. Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend this event.
