Join Temple Shalom of NWA to Learn About the Shabbat on Nov. 3

The Tyson Center for Faith-Friendly Workplaces in the Sam M. Walton College of Business in collaboration with Temple Shalom of Northwest Arkansas is sharing with the community how the Jewish sabbath is observed. An educational Shabbat service is offered to the public at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at Temple Shalom, 699 W. Sang Ave., Fayetteville.

Shabbat, the Jewish sabbath, is observed every Friday at sunset until Saturday at sunset and is central to Jewish life. This educational service is open to the broader community and will be led by cantorial soloist Sammi Stinson. Following the service, an open discussion and question and answer period will be offered. Light refreshments will be served.

"The Tyson Center is excited about this opportunity to partner with Temple Shalom. We are always looking for ways to support educational events like this Shabbat service, as well as other events that help provide a broader understanding of various religions," said Denise Breaux Soignet, Ph.D., the executive director of the Tyson Center for Faith-Friendly Workplaces. "Our mission is to provide people with relevant learning experiences, knowledge and opportunities for leadership and connection."

Established in 2009 with a grant from Tyson Foods and the Tyson Family Foundation, the Tyson Center works toward an increased understanding of faith-friendly organizational practices that are respectful and appreciative of the importance of employees' faith-based, spiritual and/or religious identities (including non-religious, agnostic and atheist identities). The center accomplishes its mission through coursework, immersive experiences, research support and corporate outreach.
