Five Students Earn Awards at Students of Agronomy, Soils and Environmental Sciences Meeting

Bumpers College crop science students competed in impromptu speech, crops judging, pedology, research presentations and posters, quiz bowl and visual presentations at the SASES meeting.

Several students in crop, soil and environmental sciences in U of A's Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences earned awards and participated in activities at the Students of Agronomy, Soils and Environmental Sciences annual meeting in St. Louis.

Students competed in areas of impromptu speech, crops judging, pedology, research presentations and posters, quiz bowl and visual presentation.

Jonathan Brye won first place in the soils research poster category, Wesley Herrman first place in the visual presentation category and Abigail Norsworthy first in research presentation.

Katie Jansson placed third in pedology, and Colten Nichols, fourth in impromptu speech.

In addition to the contests, U of A's students went on tours of nearby agricultural centers and networked with other students and professionals from various fields.

Kelsey Greub, instructor in crop, soil and environmental sciences, guided the group.

The Students of Agronomy, Soils and Environmental Sciences is the undergraduate student program of the American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America and Soil Science Society of America.

The SASES is an affiliation of agronomy, crops, soils, plant science or environmental science clubs and their undergraduate student members from colleges and universities throughout the U.S.
