Light a Candle for Peace
Join other campus members at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, as they light candles to celebrate world peace. Inspired by the ideas of President John F. Kennedy, who once talked about "genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living and the kind that enables man and nations to grow and to hope and build a better life for their children," the U of A community will celebrate and call for world peace.
This event aims to close International Education Week by recognizing that international education builds understanding and respect among different peoples and enhances constructive leadership in the global community.
Attendees will meet and eat international food at the Latin American and Latino Studies Office, Old Main 203. Remarks will be given by Fulbright Associate Dean Lía Uribe, and then the group will walk together to the Fulbright Peace Fountain, sing and light a candle.
This event is sponsored by the Honors College, the Latin American and Latino Studies Program, and the World Languages, Literatures and Cultures Department.
