Professor Jeffrey Murdock conducts the Inspirational Chorale, orchestra and audience in a holiday carol during the 2018 Holiday Concert.

The Inspirational Chorale is excited to host its annual "Sounds of the Season" concert at the Jim and Joyce Faulkner Performing Arts Center at the University of Arkansas. This much-anticipated event will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7.

This concert is free and open to the public; however, tickets must be reserved in advance.

"This concert promises to leave the audience uplifted with the Inspirational Chorale's unique renditions of Christmas classics," said its director, Jeffrey Murdock.

"The Inspirational Chorale is the longest-running diversity initiative at the University of Arkansas, celebrating Black Sacred music on our campus for over four decades," he added. "And this gospel ensemble has established a reputation of excellence among audiences worldwide and the perfomers are thrilled to celebrate the holidays at home with their campus and local communities."

Murdock said the choir will perform works by David Clydesdale and Cedric Dent, as well as covers of works by Pentatonix, Take 6, and the Georgia Mass Choir.

Additionally, special guests will include the University of Arkansas Razorback Men's Chorus, and members of the voice faculty from the Department of Music, including Jonathan Stinson, Lenora Green-Turner, and Lauren Clare.

This concert will also feature special presentations from members of the first cohort of the Master of Music in Black Sacred Music and the Arkansas Center for Black Music.

"This is a treat not to be missed," said Murdock, himself a Grammy-award winning educator. "Bring your family and friends to experience the magic of the holiday season. The Inspirational Chorale promises to deliver an incredible performance to kickstart your holiday!"
