The U of A Speech and Debate Society was victorious again at the University of Central Arkansas' End of Hi-Bear-Nation Debate Tournament the weekend of Feb. 2-4.

The students — consisting of Hadley Adkison, Sophie Barrentine, Matthew Cook, Megan Dial, Jackson Dowler, Jason Green, Max Green, Dylan Hall, Jacob Hurbanek, Austin Keefe, Molly Lay, Gavin Michau, Rhea Neugebauer, Colten Nichols, Jaci Sabatini, Carter Stainton, Jordan Thomas, Luke Thurmon and Aubree Watkins — competed and judged, bringing home a total of 13 awards. 

Molly Lay - Octofinalist, Novice Division - one of only two debaters at the tournament who went undefeated in preliminary competition

Colten Nichols - Octofinalist, Novice Division; First Place Speaker, Novice Division 

Sophie Barrentine - Octofinalist, Varsity Division 

Austin Keefe - Quarterfinalist, Varsity Division; First Place Speaker, Varsity Division; Third Place Speaker, TIPDA 

Hadley Adkison - Second Place Speaker, TIPDA

Max Green - First Place Speaker, TIPDA 

Hadley/Austin - Semifinalists, TIPDA 

Third Place Overall Program - TIPDA

Fifth place Overall Program - IPDA/TIPDA

The team will next travel to Dallas Baptist University the weekend of Feb. 23-25. After that, they'll compete at the online Union University tournament March 1-3, before ultimately attending the IPDA National Tournament and Convention April 12-15.
